「SELF-RIGHTEOUS」

青峰大輝 (諏訪部 順一)
Aomine Daiki (Suwabe Junichi)

“You think you can beat me? You can’t be serious, right?
There’s no way you’d ever be worth my time…”

Translation:

Self-righteous / I am so self-righteous, but never lose
Self-righteous / Never any doubt / So self-righteous
But it’s the truth

This game’s already over / Where’s the fun in that?
Speaking of motivation / Aren’t you almost at your limit?
You think you can beat me? You can’t be serious, right?
There’s no way you’d ever be worth my time

But you’ll find out soon enough why I’m a cut above the rest

Alright, bring it on / I’ll show you the difference between you and me
The fact is, the only one who can beat me is me
You’ve gotta be able to do a little better than that, right?
Throwing in the towel already? What a joke
You’re just wasting my time
“Man, what a drag”

Self-righteous / I am so self-righteous, but never lose
Self-righteous / Never any doubt / So self-righteous
But it’s the truth

Don’t order me around / Just pass me the ball
If you want results, then just sit back and watch

Why would I waste my time looking for something that doesn’t exist?

Alright, I guess this ain’t such a bad way to kill some time
But if that’s all you’ve got, then it’s only a matter of minutes
When you lose the will to fight, I’m the one who stops caring
It should be obvious by now / Go on, do your worst
You don’t stand a chance
“Well, whatever, I guess”

Feels like I’ve lost touch with all the thrill and excitement of winning
But even so, there’s no way I’ll lose / There’s no one who can stop me

Alright, bring it on / I’ll show you the difference between you and me
The fact is, the only one who can beat me is me
Alright, I guess this ain’t such a bad way to kill some time
But if that’s all you’ve got, then it’s only a matter of minutes
When you lose the will to fight, I’m the one who stops caring
It should be obvious by now / Go on, do your worst
You don’t stand a chance
“You’ve already lost”

Self-righteous / I am so self-righteous, but never lose
Self-righteous / Never any doubt / So self-righteous
But it’s the truth

    Dear Grimmfeather-san:
Doumo arigatou. Could you also translate the “Go Go Tou” song too? That one is my favorite.
    O karada o taisetsu ni.
    Sincerely,
    Bashiek
P.S. How do you feel that the manga has ended?

Thanks for the suggestion; I’ll add it to the list. 😀

I’m actually a few chapters behind on the manga, so I can’t wait to catch up and read the ending. I’m sad it’s ended, at least for the time being, but I have a feeling that Fujimaki-sensei has more plans for the series (maybe a timeskip or a special tournament?), and there’s the third season of the anime to look forward to. What are your thoughts?

      Sincerely,
      grimm

    Dear Grimm-san:
I feel really sad!!! I was really hoping for more scenes between the GofM before he ended it. Here’s hoping that he will do something in the future with all of them together again.
Really looking forward to season 3 and a whole bunch of great songs.
    Sincerely,
    Bashiek
P.S. I always wanted to ask. Are there any characters that your friends/family feel that you resemble? Does the name Grimm have anything that to do with that?

      Dear Bashiek-san,
Yeah, with such a large cast of characters, it must have been hard to wrap up the series and give everyone one last chance in the spotlight. I’m sure Fujimaki-sensei has something else planned for his characters. 😀 And the third season is definitely going to be a lot of fun.

I’ve been told I look and act a lot like Imayoshi, if that tells you anything. XD “Grimmfeather” is actually the surname of a character in a novel I’m working on. Is there a character you’ve been told you resemble?

      Sincerely,
      grimm

    Dear Grimm-san:
I’ve just been informed by my sister that an epilogue chapter is out and Kuroko will be continuing on December 29th. Just thought I should pass that on in case you were wondering.
Unfortunately, I’ve also been informed that Naruto is ending!!! Do you remember when you first started reading it/or watching the anime? It’s strange how these things come to mind when something’s about to end.
Imayoshi, huh? That tells me a lot. My mother and sisters are always telling me that I am loud and assertive like Naruto and a little slow on the uptake. I haven’t yet seen any female character that I look like though.
It’s so cool that you’re a writer!!! When I was younger, I always wanted to be one (I would write stories and poems all the time), but then I read something that Roald Dahl had written, saying that good writing takes a lot of patience. That kind of made me wake up; I still make up stories in my head though. Do you you do the same as well? If you ever need any help on your novel (proofreading or just another perspective) please let me know.
    O karada o taisetsu ni.

    Sincerely,
    Bashiek

      Bashiek-san,

Yeah, I heard! I’m so excited for the sequel; I hope we get to see Kuroko and Kagami as second years and the Generation of Miracles reunited for a game.

I haven’t read or watched Naruto in a few years, but I remember it well. I started watching the series after finishing the original FullMetal Alchemist, and it was one of the first manga I read. I’ve talked to a lot of people who first became interested in Japanese culture and anime/manga because of Naruto. Do you have any memories with the series?

Yep, Imayoshi. XD Actually, I think it’s a compliment to be compared to Naruto. Even though I don’t follow the series anymore, one thing that has always stuck with me about it is how incredibly tenacious Naruto himself is–he never, ever gives up. That’s a great personality trait to have!

Thank you! I’ve been writing stories ever since I learned how to write, and though it’s difficult and definitely requires a lot of patience, one of my dreams is to publish a book. I might take you up on your offer someday!

      Sincerely,
      grimm

    Dear Grimm-san:
Thank you so much for the compliment. Actually, the never giving up trait is a quality that all four of us share. Others really do not like this fact about us; however, we just won’t give up on our principles and beliefs no matter what.
I loved Fullmetal Alchemist!!! I was crying all the time throughout the series; I love stories about how people struggle to get their forgiveness and live righteously and well in life. I found Naruto a bit late actually; the series started airing on Cartoon Network Pakistan and when it stopped I just wanted to know more about what happened to Naruto and Sasuke. When I went on the Internet to learn more, I couldn’t believe that Sasuke had already killed his brother. I was totally confused (I didn’t know about anime and manga back then). Luckily, two great sites guided me, and I’ve been following it ever since.
I really hope your dream comes true!!! My offer stands; just like Naruto “I never go back on my word”!!!

    Sincerely,
    Bashiek
P.S. Could you please explain about beki and goto (ex. mamorubeki and ikubeki and nanigoto)? I would really appreciate it.

I requested the lyrics and translation for “Go, Go Tou”; I’ve got them now, sans the conversation parts. Just wanted to let you know since you must be busy, and if you like you can cross the song of your list.

      Sincerely,

    Dear Grimm-san:

Akemashite omedetou! Ikaga deshita ka? I wanted to ask if you’ve ever met or heard of anyone that has had the traditional Japanese hatsuyume?
Also are cartoons in Japan (such as Justice League or Code Name: Kids Next Door) referred to as anime or are they called something else? I noticed some of the seiyuu had dubbed them.
I also had a chance to watch Barakamon and Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-kun. I enjoyed them both. I’m glad in the Tarzan scene in Barakamon that he had the sense to break the rope. It instantly reminded me of Bridge to Terabithia, and I didn’t want the same thing happening to these kids.
    O-karada o taisetsu ni.
    Sincerely,
    Bashiek
