[in the gym]

Riko: I trust you guys are feeling pretty good about your fundamentals?

Kagami: Of course. We’re doing great!

Riko: Alright, then let’s continue with defensive practice.

Kagami: Yeah! Defense, offense, whatever—bring it on!

Hyuuga: Let’s start with some three-on-three, then. Izuki, Mitobe, and Tsuchida will be on offense. Koga, Kagami, and Kuroko—try to stop them with man-to-man defense.

Kagami: Man-to-man? Got it. Okay, I’ll guard Mitobe-senpai, so Koganei-senpai, you take Tsuchida-senpai…please.

Koganei: I don’t mind, but why is Kagami taking charge?

Kuroko: I think he made the right decision. Kagami-kun is a match for Mitobe-senpai in terms of height… And if I guard Izuki-senpai, who has the eagle eye, then it will be good individual practice for me. Since Koganei-senpai specializes in being an all-rounder, we’d like you to guard Tsuchida-senpai.

Koganei: I get the distinct feeling that I’m just getting stuck with the leftovers.

Hyuuga: You ready? Alright, let’s get started!

Kagami: Yeah! Bring it on!

– –

Mitobe: …

Kagami: Sorry, but I can’t let you pass me that easily, Mitobe-senpai.

Mitobe: …!

Kagami: Urgh! That’s Mitobe-senpai for ya! You’re a pretty tough opponent! …sir!

Hyuuga: Stop! Oi, Kagami!

Kagami: Hm? What’s up?

Hyuuga: Don’t back off in a situation like that! Guard him even tighter!

Kagami: Huh? But if I didn’t back off, I’d probably end up fouling him.

Hyuuga: What’re you planning to accomplish with such a fragile defense?! Don’t worry about it! Just think of this as a battle and give it your all!

Kagami: Okay! If that’s the way you want it, then I couldn’t ask for more! … Mitobe-senpai! I’ve got the captain’s permission, so I’m gonna go all out! …sir! Oryaa!

– –

Kiyoshi: Hey, Hyuuga. Are you sure that’s okay?

Hyuuga: Yeah, it’s fine. I mean, say we’re in the last minutes of the fourth quarter. He needs to build up the strength that’s necessary to go man-to-man in a situation like that.

Kiyoshi: So the goal is for us to be able to stop the opposing team in their tracks…

Hyuuga: Got it in one.

Kiyoshi: Okay, then what would be our cue to try this play?

Hyuuga: If we decide to use it during a game, I’ll give you a signal.

Kiyoshi: Roger that. Guess I’d better get back to practice.

[bam!]

Hyuuga: Huh?! What?! What happened?!

Kuroko: Kagami-kun tried to stop Mitobe-senpai by force, and they collided.

Kagami: Ow, ow, ow… But the captain was the one who told me to give it my all…

Mitobe: …

Hyuuga: It’s fine to have fighting spirit, but there’s a limit to how far you should take it!

Kagami: Okay…

[in the dining hall]

Kagami: Sweet! Food! I’m so hungry after practice!

Hyuuga: Doesn’t matter if it’s before or after practice—you’re always hungry.

Kagami: I can eat about four or five times as much after practice!

Hyuuga: What the heck is your stomach made of…?

[Shuutoku arrives]

Takao: Oh? Seirin’s having dinner now?

Kagami: What, you, too?

Takao: Seems like it… Well, we’re staying in the same boardinghouse, so it’s only natural that we’d eat at the same time.

Midorima: I have to see you at mealtimes, too? Good grief…

Kagami: Huh? If it bugs you that much, then you don’t have to eat.

Midorima: Don’t be stupid. I might not want to see you, but I’m still hungry.

Kagami: Then just shut up and eat already…

Takao: Alrighty! Man, I wonder what’s for dinner tonight!

Kagami: …hey.

Takao: Hm? What’s up?

Kagami: These are Seirin’s seats. Aren’t you guys supposed to sit over there?

Takao: Ehh? It doesn’t really matter, does it? The food’s the same no matter where you sit. Ahh! Wait, why don’t we shuffle our seats?

Kagami: Who made you the boss?

Takao: Don’t worry about it! It’ll be like a cultural exchange! We can swap info and stuff. It’ll be fun! C’mon! Kagami, you sit here!

Kagami: H-hey!

Takao: Ootsubo-san…why don’t you sit here?

Hyuuga: Wait, where are we supposed to sit?

Izuki: We’re sitting together with Shuutoku…

Takao: C’mon! Come sit over here, please! I personally recommend this table!

Kuroko: …um…where should I sit?

Takao: Kuroko, you’re fine where you are.

Kuroko: Okay…

Midorima: Oi, Takao! What do you think you’re doing?

Takao: Oh! I forgot all about Shin-chan! Okay, just sit in that open seat there!

Midorima: W-wait!

Takao: Alright, let’s dig in!

[at the GoM + Kagami table]

Midorima: …

Kagami: …

Kuroko: This is delicious.

Midorima: …how did this happen…?

Kagami: Don’t look at me. Your guy was the one who barged in and messed things up.

Kuroko: But isn’t this kind of fun? We don’t normally get to eat together.

Midorima: This couldn’t be any less fun. …but that aside, Kagami, your appetite is as amazing as ever. What on earth is that mountain of rice?

Kagami: Huh? It’s annoying to have to keep getting up for seconds.

Midorima: Ugh…what a glutton… I feel sick just looking at your bowl.

Kagami: Shove it!

– –

Takao: How’s it going? You guys having fun?

Kuroko: You certainly look like you’re enjoying yourself.

Takao: Yeah, well, when I look over at your table…nah, it’s nothing. More importantly, Kuroko, are you gonna eat that heaping serving of rice, too?

Kuroko: I’m going to eat twice that much.

Takao: Wow, you’ve got a surprisingly big appetite.

Kuroko: No, that’s not it… That’s our quota during training camp… But honestly, there’s no way I can finish it. Kagami-kun always looks forward to mealtimes, but for me, they’re even tougher than practice.

Takao: Uh, seems like you’ve got it rough…

[bam!]

Midorima: …I don’t care how hungry you are! What’s the deal with that ridiculous appetite?! How many servings have you had?!

Kagami (chewing): Huh?! Shut up! I’m hungry, damn it!

Midorima: And you’re making a mess! Your manners are awful!! Why do I have to sit next to you…?! Kuroko, you’re no better! As an athlete, aren’t you embarrassed that you eat so little?!

Kuroko: No one is forcing you to sit with us.

Midorima: …

Takao: Aren’t you glad you get to sit at such a lively table? I’ll be looking forward to mealtimes every day from now on~!

Midorima: Takao…don’t expect me to forget that this is all your fault.

Takao: Yeah, yeah. We’re supposed to bend the rules and relax a little during training camp, you know.

Midorima: That’s…news to me.

Takao: C’mon, now, it’s bad manners to make so much noise at the dinner table.

Midorima: Takao…you’d best be prepared to face the consequences.

[in the dining hall]

Kiyoshi: It feels great to exercise first thing in the morning! Alright, I can’t wait for breakfast!

Kuroko: All that’s waiting for me is a serving of rice that I won’t possibly be able to finish. Honestly, it’s depressing.

Kiyoshi: With that kind of attitude, you won’t even be able to swallow your food. So long as you eat with a smile, even a quiet guy like you should be able to really pack it in!

Kuroko: Kiyoshi-senpai, you say some really crazy things sometimes.

Kiyoshi: Hm? There’re a lot of people gathered over there.

Kuroko: Are they the guys from Shuutoku?

Kiyoshi: No…I don’t think so. I feel like I’ve seen them somewhere before, though. A famous school, maybe?

Kuroko: Ah…that’s…

???: Kurokocchi~~~!

[Kise runs up]

Kuroko: Kise-kun…? What are you doing here?

Kise: I was right! It was Seirin! I knew I’d seen that uniform before! You guys here for a training camp, too?! We’re starting ours today!

Kuroko: Kaijou is holding its training camp here, as well?

Kise: Yeah! Maybe we’ll get to hang out at night or something!

Kagami: Kise?! Why the heck are you here?!

Kise: Oh, Kagamicchi! Looks like we’re gonna be staying in the same boardinghouse. What a coincidence!

Kagami: Is this really just a coincidence?! What’s going on?!

Kasamatsu: So I see Seirin’s holding a training camp here, too.

Hyuuga: It’s not just us. Shuutoku’s here, too.

Kasamatsu: What the—?! Are you doing some kind of joint training camp?

Hyuuga: Nah, it’s purely coincidental…

Hayakawa: Oooh! Since Sei(ri)n’s (h)ere, maybe we’ll get to (pr)actice (to)gether!

Hyuuga: …eh?

Hayakawa: Like I (sa)id, maybe we’ll get to (pr)actice (to)gether!

Hyuuga: …what?

Moriyama: Don’t worry about him. Since we’re staying at the same boardinghouse, I wonder if they’re going to make us do joint practices or something.

Hyuuga: I wonder. If your coach would like to, I’m sure it’d be okay with ours.

Riko: Hyuuga-kun, about that, it seems like there was a mix-up with the gym reservations.

Hyuuga: A mix-up? What happened?

Riko: Kaijou’s going to be using the same gym we are.

Hyuuga: Eeeh? So we’ll be holding joint practices by default?!

Riko: Hehehe! Being able to practice with Kaijou—it’s better than I could have dreamed! I’ve gotta go coordinate our practice schedules!

Kuroko: …looks like we’ll be practicing with Kise-kun and his team.

Kagami: Kise will be with us during practice, and when we get back to the boardinghouse, I’ll have to put up with Midorima, too…

Kuroko: With all of us here, this should be quite fun.

Kagami: What is the deal with this training camp?

Riko: Alright, we’re starting our joint practice with Kaijou. This should be really beneficial for us.

Hyuuga: It’s really intriguing to see how another team practices.

Riko: Let’s go show them what we can do.

– –

Kuroko: Kagami-kun, why are you making that scary face?

Kagami: Oh, I didn’t mean to, but even though this is just practice, I still get really pumped up when I see guys from another team.

Kuroko: But you’ll intimidate them if you keep making that face.

Kise: Hey there, Kagamicchi. How’s it going?

Kagami: What, did you come to spy on us?

Kise: We’re practicing in the same gym, so you can hardly call it “spying”… Since we’re holding joint practices, I thought I’d go ahead and introduce our team members.

Riko: That’s a great idea! We haven’t had a chance to formally introduce ourselves, after all, so let’s take this opportunity. Everybody, gather round!

– –

Kise: ‘Kay, I’ll introduce our regulars. This guy is our captain, Kasamatsu-senpai.

Kasamatsu: I’m the point guard, Kasamatsu Yukio. Nice to meet you.

Hyuuga: We look forward to working with you.

Kise: The guy over there who’s the second-most handsome after me is Moriyama-senpai, a third year.

Moriyama: Quit fishing for compliments! Ah, hello. I’m Moriyama Yoshitaka. By the way— Seirin’s coach, if you happen to have any cute female friends, would you mind introducing me?

Kasamatsu: What an idiot! Cut it out, Moriyama!

Riko: Haha…ha… What a lovely person.

Hyuuga: Crap! Coach, you’re laughing, but your eyes are dead serious.

Kise: …can I keep going? Over there we have…

Hayakawa: I’m a second yea(r), Hawakawa Mitsuhi(ro)!! I look forward to (wor)king with you!!

Kagami: …what’d he say?

Hayakawa: Like I sai(d), I’m Hayakawa! I look forward to (wor)king with you!!

Kagami: …look forward to…“king”?

Kasamatsu: He has trouble with his r’s, and he’s difficult to understand, but please bear with it.

Kise: This plain-looking guy is Kobori-senpai. He’s the most normal, straightforward person on our team.

Kobori: That was kind of a weird introduction, but I look forward to working with you.

Moriyama: Then the most straightforward one would have to be Kise…

Hayakawa: Are you tryin’ to say that we a(re)n’t?!

Kise: Eh?! No, not at all!

Hayakawa: Then what did you mean?!

Kuroko: Kise-kun…it looks like you get quite well with everyone from Kaijou.

Kise: “Get along”? More like I’m just getting picked on by my senpai…

Hayakawa: Don’t say stuff that makes the (r)est of us look bad, Kise!

Kasamatsu: Hey, just drop it. …well, our team’s full of interesting characters, but let’s try our best to work together during this training camp.

Kise: Wait a sec, why are you wrapping it up, Kasamatsu-senpai?! I still haven’t introduced myself!

Kasamatsu: Your introduction? Do you even need one?

Kise: Of course! Right, Kurokocchi?

Kuroko: …alright, if you must.

Kise: What’s that supposed to mean?!

Kasamatsu: Go ahead, then.

Kise: I’m a first year, Kise Ryouta! I look forward to working with you!

Kasamatsu: He’s a member of the “Generation of Miracles”, and he’s also pretty famous as a model. With one look at someone’s movements, he can mimic them and make them his own… That’s how he earned his title as the copy specialist.

Kagami: …jeez. That copycat act gave me a little trouble last time.

Kise: I’ll give you more than just a little trouble this time!

Kagami: Ha! Bring it on!

Kasamatsu: That’s our team. Let’s get along.

Riko: We look forward to working with you! Alright, now it’s our turn…

– –

Hyuuga: …okay, that’s everybody.

Kise: Formally introducing ourselves like this… It really gets my blood pumping!

Kasamatsu: ‘Cause now you’re personally acquainted with the guys on whom you’ll be getting revenge. We might get the chance to play a practice match… And if we do, we won’t lose, Seirin.

Hyuuga: Same goes for us.

Kagami: Yeah, we’ll win for sure!

Kuroko: We won’t lose.

Kasamatsu: Looks like you guys are ready to go. Let’s have a productive practice!

Hyuuga: Yes. We’re counting on you!

      Thanks for your comment.
I would love to make a patch, but I think the process of patching the game would be fairly time consuming and require knowledge of video game coding. Also, I’ve been playing a hard copy of the game, so I don’t even have an ISO.
That said, if there are other people willing to form a group to work on a patch, I’d be more than willing to provide translations. 🙂

“Don’t look at me. Your guy was the one who barged in and messed things up.” … and did you notice that Midorima didn’t even ONCE said something about that “YOUR guy” part? And that they were quarreling like old married couple? xD
Sorry if my spaming about their 99% of canon relationship is annoying you xD

    • grimmfeather says:

The original Japanese for the “your guy” line was 「オマエんとこの」and 「オメーのところのヤツ」, which literally mean “the guy from ‘your’ place (Shuutoku)”, i.e., “your teammate”. That said, Kagami seems to be referring specifically to the association between Midorima and Takao, as if Midorima should somehow take responsibility for what happened, which is why I chose to translate it the way I did. XD

They certainly have the old married couple act down pat. There are a couple of Shuutoku events coming up in the game that I think you’ll enjoy. 😉

Thanks for your comment, as always! Reading people’s comments is part of the fun for me.

Ufff, then I’m happy that I didn’t bother you with my chatting xD
I wish I knew Japaneese so I could at least read all those Midorima and Takao moments (care to translate them? *shining eyes like Cat from Shrek* LOL) but I don’t know it and I’m too old to start learning xD
Well, if he said it that way then it still seems to be “YOUR guy” without any pun to the team LOL
And it’s really good that there is someone like you who translates just for fun and shares it with us. Really, thank you >.<

Haha, I don’t think it’s ever too late to start learning another language, but I’ll definitely keep translating! It’s great Japanese practice for me, and I want everyone to be able to enjoy the game.

Thanks for such a kind comment. (^▽^)

I for one, have started to just for fun imagine girls from other animes who’d be suitable to the characters in knb…..when i thought of Kuroko , honoka from Pretty cure came up in my mind….the same happened when I thought of akashi…..creepy xD

  4. Guest says:

just for the sake of this being more understandable, honokas description :
“Honoka is a gentle, understanding girl who always put others before herself. She is very smart, even being called the “The Queen of Knowledge (知識の女王 Chishiki no joō?)”, “The Queen of Intelligence (知性の女王 Chisei no joō?)” or “The Queen of Wisdom (叡智の女王 Eichi no joō?)” by her classmates, and often uses this to help people. However, Honoka may also be quite strict, and when she thinks someone has not done all of their work, she’ll force them to do it. She is, however, doing this because she cares. Although she is the crush of almost every boy in school, she is not interested in most of them, but she has shown to care very much for some boys, namely Fujimura Shougo, her childhood friend, and Kiriya, a new boy at school who she is helping understand people’s feelings.”

even this might not give a clear picture if not seen the anime xD
